i’ve been working on my series of flower paintings this week 🌷 i’m painting on many pieces at the same time, adding more details each round, revisiting, overpainting, sometimes completely changing them when they don’t work.
it’s a process. some look like shit. some i love. sometimes the flowers come easy and sometimes i have to push through.
i like to lay them out together, to see which pieces work well together and which ones need more work. or have to be painted over again.
oh, and i started working in a sketchbook again. haven’t done that properly since uni. they always felt restrictive to me but i’m enjoying my new one so far :) just getting my ideas to paper.

These smaller pieces of work are my way to say hello to the new year where i really want to focus more on painting again. after a few slow holiday days, i’m back and feeling recharged for the new year. it didn’t start perfectly (two shops i work with are closing unexpectedly 🙈), buuut i’m excited for new ideas and fresh (painting) projects. i want to turn into new greeting cards soon 🌸

2025 was a year of firsts: first time hosting workshops, painting onto clothes, painting shop windows, painting onto objects and creating porcelain plates, and doing live illustration. i'm probably forgetting lots, but cannot share everything, here's a little glimpse :) i've met incredible people and i'm grateful for taking risks on new things, even when they scared me. being creative in many mediums was a highlight. looking forward to 2026, i want to focus again more on painting, create cohesive series, and continue collaborating with lovely people 🥰. thanks for making 2025 so so special, my heart is full.

hi it’s me, Johanna. i’m an artist and illustrator based in vienna and i love colours, flowers and being creative in different ways. this year was full of firsts: hosting my first workshops, painting shop windows, creating my own set of plates, creating new products, painting onto vases, live illustrating people and receiving so much positive energy, selling a painting via instagram, meeting so many creative people from all different fields, being part of art shows, creating my own cycling jersey and interpreting someone’s grief letter. and many more things… it was a year of creating and painting 💕
